Meaning comes and goes and tells about the ridiculous task of trying to find it and pin it down. Jason Lim's art practice, which incorporates ceramics, performance, installation, and video art, wrestles with life’s combative questions. Lim has performed and exhibited in more than twenty countries. He teaches in the Faculty of Visual Arts at the School of the Arts in Singapore.
Open Space hosted a performance by Lim on Friday, September 27, at 8:00 p.m. Lim’s recent series of performances, Duet, explores the repeated actions from different angles and examines binaries such as stillness and action, fullness and emptiness, light and dark.

Residency Wrap-up: Valerie Salez

Saturday, September 21, 2013, 5:00 pm

This summer, Valerie Salez facilitated one-on-one art making with twenty youth during her residency, Play, Fall, Rest, Dance, at Open Space. Salez offered her own supplies, as well as some of her previous work, to get the kids started. The results of each session was a distinct exhibit, generated solely by a fresh, coming-of-age mind. Each participant was given an early start to their career in the arts.
To conclude, Salez was joined on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. by some of the participants. They answered questions about their experience working with Salez in a gallery setting and creating large-scale artworks.
