1971: Director: Gene Miller
Open Space was closed to the public for the month of August 2011. We reopened after an intensive installation residency with Steven deBruyn. His project, Wood for Rolling, opened September 9, 2011.
During the closure there was a reception for MediaNet's VideoLab Production Program. Featuring interactive media installations, the event took place on August 12, starting at 7:00 p.m. The interactive media artworks were also on display at Open Space August 11, 12, and 13 during regular hours.

"It was here [at Open Space], a former carriage house in the low-rent part of town, that a $1 million exhibition of drawings by M.C. Escher (the 'impossible picture' guy) was mounted, and volunteers spelled each other off sleeping in the gallery so none of the art would be stolen."
