Reception: Friday, April 26, 2013, 7:00–9:00 p.m.
This reception event was in conjunction with the opening for the Vertical Gallery project and the meet & greet for artist-in-residence Wendy Hough.
Karen Hibbard was commissioned to redesign the Resource Centre at Open Space. Karen applied her keen sense of visual and spatial design to stimulate use and encourage engagement. The Resource Centre is an ongoing program that shifts and swerves around the exhibitions and events of the gallery, sometimes as a part of the exhibitions, such as with the F-L-A-M-M-A-R-I-O-N project, or as a showcase for artist publications, as in the recent display of catalogues from Charles Campbell’s personal collection.
Karen Hibbard’s Resource Centre houses a reading area with specially selected catalogues and publications to browse, along with the sturdy display case that holds a vast array of Open Space publications, as well as other books, monographs, catalogues, and multiples that we receive as part of a national catalogue exchange. Next time you are at Open Space, take a moment to browse the collection and engage with the environment that Karen has created.
