Charles Campbell

Biography: 

Charles Campbell is a multidisciplinary artist based in Victoria, BC. He was born in Jamaica in 1970 and moved to Prince Edward Island alongside his family in 1975. Campbell completed a BFA at Concordia University in Montreal in 1992, returning to Jamaica the following year and establishing himself as an artist, critic, and art educator in Kingston. In 1998, Campbell relocated to London, England, to complete a MFA at the University of London's Goldsmiths College. Campbell's work utilizes painting, installation, performance, sound, and video and has been exhibited throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. He has represented Jamaica and Canada in events such as Jamaica's National Biennial; Infinite Islands: Contemporary Caribbean Art, organized by the Brooklyn Museum in 2007; and Contemporary Jamaican Art, circa 1962/circa 2012, held at the Art Gallery of Mississauga in 2012.
