Open Space invites proposals from artists, collectives, media arts, curators, interdisciplinary teams, sound artists, musicians, and composers for its 2013–14 programming year.

Open Space accepts proposals on an ongoing basis and its interdisciplinary Programming Committee meets monthly to review proposals. We try to respond to proposals quickly, but we sometimes take a few months to make a decision.

During the next two years, Open Space will focus on projects that investigate interdisciplinarity, the contradictions and debates of green economies, participative projects, and projects that examine public sites and histories. Do not feel confined by this description: we will consider any thoughtful contemporary project. Open Space reviews proposals in the visual arts (exhibitions, curatorial projects, installations, performances, etc.), new music (concerts, performances, workshops, off site projects), media arts, audio and sound, screenings, and traditional media.

Victoria is located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It is the provincial capital, and Open Space is located in the heart of the business and tourism area. The region has the highest artist-per-capita ratio in Canada. There are five art schools in the Capital Regional District.

Open Space has a large programming space (approximately 9m x 24m or 30ft x 78ft) and is located on the second floor, limiting access as well as weight and scale of projects. • Self-addressed envelope with return postage [Open Space will not return submission packages lacking sufficient postage]

Open Space pays artist fees for all exhibitions, performances, and other presentations. In all cases, these fees are equal to or above the minimum fees as recommended by CARFAC (Canadian Artist's Representation).
