VICO and Open Space present Erica Roozendaal: New Music for Accordion
On Saturday June 24, Open Space, in collaboration with the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra (VICO), welcomes accordionist Erica Roozendaal. Joining us here from the Netherlands, Erica will perform a concert featuring music written by composers from Canada and Scandinavia. Vancouverite Mark McGregor will be accompanying Erica on flute. The concerts will feature compositions by Juliet Kiri Palmer, Erkki Jokinen and Bent Sørensen and include a world premiere by Farshid Samandari.
“It is always fantastic collaborating with VICO. They bring world class artists to the West Coast who work to find intersections between music from their country and Canadian music. Erica’s concert will be no exception,” says Christopher Reiche Boucher, Open Space’s New Music Curator. “She will perform music from Canada and Scandinavia as well as showcasing what the accordion is capable of in a contemporary context.”
The concert will be taking place at James Bay United Church at 511 Michigan Street.
