Curator Gerry Gauthier brought together Kristina Lee Podesva (Vancouver), Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky (Vancouver), Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov (Victoria/Berlin), and Miles Collyer (Toronto) to chart strategies in colour-based practice. In this arena, the physicality and value of the art object are territories for discovery through the use of props, studies, and building blocks that explore the constantly changing nature of colour — from deviations of perspective, ways of seeing, light sources, and retinal discrepancies.
Like Some Pool of Fire took wide-ranging approaches to colour, invoking a multi-generational response, from Fluxus to contemporary concerns, illuminating critically chromatic dialogues.
