Open Word: Hilary Clark, Donato Mancini, and Steven Ross Smith
On June 16 and 17, Open Space’s literary series Open Word: Readings and Ideas joins forces with Planet Earth Poetry and the Ministry of Casual Living in a weekend of contemporary poetry, featuring Hilary Clark, Donato Mancini, and Steven Ross Smith.
On Friday evening, June 16 at 7:30 pm, Hilary Clark and Steven Ross Smith will read new work at Planet Earth Poetry (at Hillside Coffee and Tea, 1633 Hillside Avenue, across from Bolen Books).Following the open mic Clark and Smith will read from and talk about their award-winning experimental collaboration Pliny’s Knickers, created with visual artist Betsy Rosenwald and published by JackPine Press—an independent press focusing on literary and visual art collaboration.
Later on Friday night at 9:00 pm at the Ministry of Casual Living, now located at 858 Devonshire Road, Vancouver based poet Donato Mancini will perform his new work Same Diff.
On Saturday, June 17 at 7:30 pm, Steven Ross Smith and Donato Mancini will read from performance based work at Open Space. Follow a short intermission, the two poets will discuss performance and sound poetry. Both poets’ practices engage performative modes.
