Friday, August 23 at 8:00pm, Open Space presents the world premiere of a song cycle by Tiange Zhou, entitled Empathy II, featuring Cathy Fern Lewis (soprano), Marina Hasselberg (cello), Rachel Iwaasa (piano).
Born in China in 1990, Tiange Zhou is a composer, photographer, designer, and improvisational dancer. Empathy II is written specifically for this team of musicians and includes projections, choreography and spoken text.
Also included in the program will be Owen Underhill’s setting of W.B. Yeats poem Before The World Was Made, which was written for Lewis in 1987. Iwaasa, Hasselberg and Lewis will each present a solo work.
Admission is free / by donation. Doors at 7:30pm.
