Biography: 

 
Louise Bernice Halfe, whose Cree name is Sky Dancer, was raised on the Saddle Lake Reserve in Alberta, although not exclusively; beyond their family’s control, Louise and her siblings were transferred to residential school. Halfe served as Saskatchewan’s Poet Laureate for two years and has traveled extensively throughout Canada, Northwest Territories, and abroad. Her book Blue Marrow was a finalist for the 1998 Governor General’s Award for Poetry. Her other books, Bear Bones and Feathers, and The Crooked Good (Coteau Publishers), have also received numerous accolades and awards. Louise was awarded an Honorary Degree of Letters (Ph. D) from Wilfred Laurier University.
