David LaRiviere

Biography: 

David LaRiviere received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1989 and an MA Fine Art degree from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1996. Since January of 2008 LaRiviere has been the Artistic Director of PAVED Arts, a media arts production and presentation centre located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. LaRiviere’s current studio practice encompasses audio art, video, web art, performance and public art interventions. His interest in a variety of media is influenced by a research path that includes an abiding interest in continental philosophy. His work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions across Canada including Endlessly Traversed Landscapes as part of the Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver 2010, Slight Return at Truck Gallery in Calgary,  The Art Gallery at Neutral Ground in Regina and Beneath a Petroliferous Moon at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon. In 2016, LaRiviere completed his first feature length video project, entitled Evil From the Outset?,  following a production residency at Trinity Square Video in Toronto.
