Open Share

Open Share
Thursday, November 7, 2019, 7:00 pm to Thursday, December 5, 2019, 9:00 pm

Thursday, December 5 from 7-9pm, Open Space will host Open Share, a gathering for locally and regionally-based artists to share their work with a table of other artists, curators, and arts programmers. Over the course of the evening, artists will be invited to give short presentations (about 5 minutes) on their practice and current projects with a few minutes for the rest of the group to ask questions. The presentations will be followed by a mixer with snacks and refreshments provided.
We understand that there are many barriers to interacting with contemporary arts institutions. Open Share is a pilot project for us to explore creative solutions to navigating those barriers with the hope of making contemporary arts more accessible. Open Share aims to connect artists from across disciplines to others in the community with shared goals and interests while building a collective understanding of the range of exciting work being done in the city.

Artists are invited to apply to present online at the following link, where they will be asked to submit a short description of their work and a reflection on how their practice engages with its surrounding communities and contexts. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 20, 5pm.
We will be limiting Open Share to 30 participants at this time, but we will be paying close attention to the demand and the response to this new project and will consider running similar events in the future.
